March 20 is the Spring Equinox and we know this! Perhaps, it is less well known that it has also been World Storytelling Day (WSD) since 2004! Out of a Swedish initiative, it is the first international event that celebrates oral storytelling as a form of art, creating awareness of the importance of telling and listening to stories to consolidate contacts and emotional connections between people and generations, to promote the importance of different cultures and at the same time to entertain!
From Florence, Radio Cavolo contributes to the international celebrations of the World Day of Narration with a radio marathon of stories, from 10 to 21 on 20 March 2021.
On March 20, therefore, in the patch of Radio Cavolo, twenty-two storytellers will tell one story each on the theme “new beginnings” (chosen for the 2021 WSD). The stories come from several parts of the world and regions of Italy, and are told in different languages!
The storytellers-runners make an international team from Germany, Iran, Italy, Luxembourg, United Kingdom, Sweden, USA). Elena Asciutti leads this incredible team of storytellers, as she is the author and moderator of the Radio Cavolo show “Diffusione Fiaba”, dedicated to storytellers and to oral storytelling and broadcast twice a month.

20 marzo è l’Equinozio di primavera e questo si sa! Forse, però, è meno noto che dal 2004 è anche la Giornata Mondiale della Narrazione (World Storytelling Day)! Nata da un’iniziativa svedese, è la prima manifestazione internazionale che celebra la narrazione orale come forma d’arte, creando consapevolezza sull’importanza di raccontare e ascoltare storie per consolidare contatti e connessioni emotive tra persone e generazioni, per promuovere l’importanza delle diverse culture e al tempo stesso per intrattenere!
Da Firenze, Radio Cavolo contribuisce alle celebrazioni internazionali della Giornata Mondiale della Narrazione con una maratona radiofonica di storie, dalle 10 alle 21 del 20 marzo 2021.
Il 20 marzo, quindi, nell’orto di Radio Cavolo, ventidue cantastorie si alterneranno per raccontare una storia ciascuno sul tema “nuovi inizi” (scelto per la Giornata 2021). Le storie provengono da numerose parti del mondo e regioni d’Italia, e sono narrate in diverse lingue!
La squadra dei cantastorie-maratoneti è internazionale – Germania, Iran, Italia, Lussemburgo, Regno Unito, Svezia, USA – ed è capitanata da Elena Asciutti, che su Radio Cavolo è autrice e conduttrice della trasmissione “Diffusione Fiaba”, dedicata ai cantastorie e alla narrazione orale e in onda due volte al mese.
